Nissan Confirm Small EV For India; Reveal Concept 2023 Electric Hatch In London | V3Cars
In February 2023, Nissan announced it would launch 3 new vehicles, including an EV, in India. The first of these products are set to launch in 2025 and we expect Nissan to launch a small electric vehicle as well. Meanwhile, Nissan have showcased a small EV hatchback called the Concept 2023. Let’s take a closer look.
Nissan Confirm EV For India
At the launch of the Magnite AMT variants, Nissan gave us a glimpse of their upcoming products, which includes 3 new cars. The image shared by Nissan at the event previewed the 3 cars, albeit under wraps. However, Nissan have confirmed 2 of them would be SUVs that would compete in the the C and C+ segments. The third car, on the other hand, is an electric vehicle. Interestingly, the C+ SUV shown in the image looks larger than the C SUV while the EV looks considerably smaller than the other 2. This leads us to believe that the upcoming Nissan EV could be a B2-segment or smaller offering with a length of around 4 metres.

Coincidentally, Nissan showcased the Concept 20-23 in London to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their European design studio. The Concept 20-23 previews an electric hatchback and shares design traits with sketches of the Micra EV that were revealed in 2022. Although the Concept 20-23 looks at least 2-3 years away from hitting the production line, it could give us a clue about what to expect from the upcoming small EV from Nissan India. So, let’s take a look.
Nissan Concept 2030 – What Is It?
Nissan say the Concept 20-30 is a celebration of 20 years of Nissan Design Europe, which is located in London. While Nissan have waxed eloquent about how the NDE designers were given free reign over the Concept 20-30, there’s no denying that it shares design traits with the Micra EV sketches shared in 2022.
Both the concept and the sketches show circular lighting signatures at the front and rear of the electric hatchback. The front profile consists of 2 round DRLs split by the bonnet shut line and tri-LED headlamps at either corners. The concept and the sketches also share the same floating roof design with blacked-out A- and B-pillars. The C-pillars are body coloured and are followed by a blacked-out roof spoiler.
The rear features round LED tail lamps that mimic the shape of the LED headlamps up front. The electric hatchback in the sketches feature 4 doors, making it practical, and even a panoramic sunroof, which should find favour among domestic car buyers. Overall, the design is quite compact and is likely to measure around 4 metres in length.
