Nissan Magnite AMT Kuro Edition Teased

Nissan Tease Magnite Kuro Edition – Introduce AMT Option | V3Cars

On September 14, V3Cars reported that Nissan was set to launch the Magnite 1.0L normal petrol with an AMT. There were also rumours that Nissan could introduce a special edition of its sole offering in the Indian market with an all-black treatment both inside and out. Nissan India have now teased the Magnite Kuro Edition for the upcoming festive season. Apart from several blacked-out elements, both inside and out, Kuro Edition could also offer the option of an AMT transmission with the 1.0L normal petrol engine.

Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition Bookings Open

Soon after Nissan India shared the teaser image of the Magnite Kuro Edition, they opened bookings for the special edition B2-segment SUV. Nissan dealers across India are now accepting bookings for the Kuro Edition for a token amount of Rs. 11,000. We expect the brand to reveal the full price list of the Magnite Kuro Edition in October. The Magnite Kuro Edition is likely to join the Magnite Geza Edition in Nissan India’s product portfolio.

Like the Geza Edition, we expect the Kuro Edition to offer a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay over the standard Magnite’s 8.0-inch unit. While the standard Magnite offers an all-black interior and the Geza Edition features a beige treatment, the Kuro Edition could offer an all-black cabin with a few coloured highlights.

Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition Expected Powertrain Options

While the Magnite Geza Edition is only available with the 1.0L normal petrol, the Magnite Kuro Edition could offer both the normal petrol as well as 1.0L turbo petrol option. The 1.0L normal petrol engine of the Magnite produces 72PS of power at 6250rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3500rpm. Currently, the normal petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, we expect the Magnite Kuro Edition to mark the debut of the AMT transmission borrowed from the Renault Kiger.

As for the 1.0L turbo petrol engine, it produces 100PS of power at 5000rpm and 160Nm of torque between 2800rpm and 3600rpm with the 5-speed manual gearbox and 152Nm of torque between 2200rpm and 4400rpm with the CVT.

Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition Prices And Rivals

The Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition is likely to be based on the top-spec XV variant of the Magnite normal petrol and turbo petrol. Currently, prices for the standard Magnite normal petrol-manual XV variant starts at Rs. 7.81 lakh and the turbo petrol-manual XV at Rs. 9.19. With the additional features and blacked-out elements, we could expect Nissan to charge a slight premium over the standard Magnite. Hence, you could expect the Magnite Black Edition normal petrol’s prices to start above Rs. 8.0 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Magnite Black Edition turbo petrol could cost above Rs. 10.0 lakh.

In terms of rivals, the Nissan Magnite Black Edition will compete with the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Nexa Fronx, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, and the new Tata Nexon 2023, among others.
