Nissan Magnite 7-Seater In The Works | V3Cars
Riding on the success of the Magnite, Nissan is now considering expanding its portfolio with a 7-seater SUV. The upcoming 7-seater SUV will be based on the Magnite. If you recall, the Magnite is based on Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A+ platform. This platform not only underpins the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite, but also the Triber, a 7-seater MPV. While Nissan could have rebadged the Triber and offered it as their upcoming 7-seater, they have decided to base it on the popular Magnite.
Rumours suggest that the Magnite 7-seater will not have any structural or mechanical changes over the standard Magnite. Instead, the Magnite 7-seater is expected to incorporate 2 forward-facing seats in the boot. The middle row will feature a sliding mechanism for easy ingress and egress for last row passengers. With the sliding middle row, Nissan will be able to manage the space between the 2nd and 3rd row better.

We’ve seen a similar application on the Kia Sonet 7-seater, which is already on sale in the Indonesian market. However, the Kia Sonet 7-seater is 125mm longer than the regular Sonet and Kia manufacture both models at their Anantapur plant in India.

As the Magnite 7-seater won’t have any structural changes, it will help Nissan save on development costs. By not deciding to badge-engineer the Triber, Nissan can create brand differentiation between the Triber and Magnite 7-seater. We have seen something similar with Hyundai and Kia as well. The Hyundai Alcazar takes the SUV approach with premium features whereas Kia takes the conventional MPV approach with the Carens by offering more comfort and space.
Nissan India are likely to launch the Magnite 7-seater later this year. The Magnite 7-seater will rival Renault Triber and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Nissan could price the Magnite 7-seater Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 more than the corresponding variants of the standard Magnite.
