Nissan Kicks SUV Discontinued After Just 4 Years

Nissan Pull The Plug On Slow-Selling Kicks SUV | V3Cars

Nissan have discontinued the Kicks after just 4 years of its market introduction. The Nissan Kicks went on sale in 2019 to rival other C-segment SUVs, such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, among others. Apart from a mild facelift and the introduction of a 1.3L turbo petrol engine, the Kicks did not receive any substantial update in the last couple of years.

Nissan Kicks Fails To Ignite C-SUV Segment

Since launch, the Kicks SUV went up against formidable rivals, such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Later, it had to contend with the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Virtus as well. Most prospective C-SUV buyers overlooked the Nissan Kicks as it did not have the butch SUV appeal of its South Korean and German rivals, and that reflects in the Kicks’ sales chart. Take a look at the Kicks’ sales performance over the past 6 months.

Nissan did not sell a single unit of the Kicks in the past 3 months. The average sales for the last 6 months stand at  a dismal 59 units. Although Nissan’s sole C-segment offering did witness a rise in sales during the 2022 festive season, we knew the Kicks was reaching the end of the road in India. Fortunately, things aren’t looking so bleak for Nissan in India. The company is currently staying afloat thanks to the success of the Nissan Magnite. Nissan have announced they are working on a family MPV based on the Nissan Magnite/Renault Kiger platform as well as 2 new SUVs and an EV.
