Next-Generation Force Gurkha Goes On Sales For Rs. 13.59 Lakh | V3Cars

If you always wanted an off-road SUV and didn’t want to sit through the long waiting periods for the Mahindra Thar, then the Force Gurkha is a worthy alternative. It’s about as capable as the Thar as we’ve seen the two SUVs have faced each other in several competitive off-road events.

Next-Generation Force Gurkha

Force Gurkha Variants And Price

The Thar received a major upgrade in 2020 and the Force Gurkha is getting its share of generational changes this year in 2021. The Gurkha costs Rs. 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom). With the Thar, you have a long list of engine-transmission combos, variants, seating configurations and roof types to select. This can get overwhelming. The Gurkha keeps it simple as it’s only available in 1 variant with a diesel engine, fixed, hard-top and manual transmission with 4WD as standard.

Force Gurkha Engine Specs

The Gurkha gets a 2.6-litre turbo diesel engine, which makes 91PS of power at 3200rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1400 and 2400rpm. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual transmission, which transfers the torque primarily to the rear wheels and on-demand 4-wheel drive capabilities.

2021 Force Gurkha Off-Road Capabilities

In terms of off-road capabilities, the Gurkha gets an independent front axle and rigid rear axle. It has separate manual differential locks for front and rear axles. The Gurkha rides on 245/70 R16 tyres and these wheels are 2 inches smaller than the Thar. However, during hard-core off-roading, a tall and squishy sidewall goes a long way in making sure you get out of a sticky situation with less effort.

The Gurkha retains the iconic air intake snorkel, which gives it 700mm of water wading capability, which is 50mm more than the Thar. The Force Gurkha’s 35-degree gradability is also 4 degrees better than the Thar’s.

Force Gurkha Features

On the feature front, the new-generation Gurkha gets the following notable items:

  • Front fog lamps

  • TPMS

  • LED headlamps

  • LED DRLs

  • Cornering lamp

  • 7-inch touchscreen

  • Android Auto and Apple Carplay

  • Captain seats in the second row

  • Front power windows
