Next-Gen Force Gurkha Spied Ahead Of Launch

Next-Gen Force Gurkha Spied Ahead Of Launch | V3Cars

Force showcased the new Gurkha at the 2020 Auto Expo and since then the SUV has been spied testing on multiple occasions.  The new Gurkha was spied again recently ahead of its imminent launch.

Next-Gen Force Gurkh

The new Gurkha carries forward the Mercedes G-Class-like design like its predecessor. It features new round headlamps with integrated LED DRLs,  front fender-mounted turn indicators, new front and rear bumpers, new vertically stacked tail lamps and a redesigned rear profile. The side profile remains largely unchanged as it carries forward squared-off wheel arches with thick body cladding. As the test mule was equipped with steel wheels it must be the base-spec variant of the upcoming SUV while the top-spec Gurkha will get alloy wheels. The Gurkha spied here was a 3-door model but Force is expected to offer the Gurkha in both 3- and 5-door variants.

As we have already seen at the Auto Expo, the new Gurkha will feature a redesigned cabin with an all-black theme and a touchscreen infotainment system. Other features on offer should include power windows, manual AC, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. Force might offer features like electronic stability control, traction control and hill launch assist, at least in the 4X4 variants.

Under the hood, the new Gurkha will be powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that makes 90PS and 260Nm paired to a 5-speed MT. Force might also introduce the more powerful 140PS 2.2-litre diesel engine on the Gurkha at a later stage. That said, the new Gurkha will continue to get a 4X4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case and manual front and rear locking differentials.

Force is expected to launch the new Gurkha in the coming few months. Prices of the new SUV will attract a premium over the previous-gen model which retailed from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 13.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, the new Gurkha is likely to undercut its arch-rival, the Thar, by a substantial margin as it is priced from Rs 12.11 lakh to Rs 14.16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).  For this extra price, the new Thar gets a lot more features, more powerful engines and an option of automatic transmission with both petrol and diesel engines.
