New Renault Duster Unveiled – India Launch In 2025

All-New Renault Duster Unveiled Ahead Of 2025 India Launch | V3Cars

Renault’s sister brand Dacia have unveiled the all-new, third-generation Duster in Portugal. The new Duster will go on sale in Europe in early 2024 with a Dacia badge before making its way to India in the second half of 2025 with the Renault logo. Let’s take a closer look at Renault India’s upcoming C-segment SUV and see whether it has the potential to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, among others.

2024 Renault Duster Platform And Exterior Design

The new Duster SUV is based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B platform that underpins cars like the Renault Arkana, Nissan Juke and and the Dacia Jogger. Dacia’s latest SUV takes heavy design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept that was unveiled in January 2021. In fact, it looks identical to the concept SUV minus a few design flourishes. The new Duster retains the boxy proportions that made the older model so popular in India. Up front, there’s an all-new grille with chrome elements that connect the Y-shaped DRLs that are built into the headlamp clusters. The lower grille is quite large and is surrounded by a bull bar-like silver panel that houses the circular fog lights, while vertical air vents on either side of the front bumper adds a sporty element to the new Duster. The chiselled bonnet is quite high set, which further adds to the new Duster’s rugged appeal.

Around the side, the new Duster gets plastic cladding in the lower half and squared-off wheel arches. 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, muscular rear haunches, a small rear quarter glass and roof rails are other highlights of the new Duster’s design. It is interesting to note that the rear door handles are now placed in the C-pillar, which makes the design seem sleeker than before. At the rear, the SUV gets a sporty roof spoiler, Y-shaped LED tail lamps and a prominent skid plate.

2024 Renault Duster Interior Design And Features

The new Duster gets a well-equipped interior when compared to its predecessor that was sold in India. For instance, the new Duster gets a 7-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We expect the India-spec model to offer features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the dashboard in the Euro-spec Duster is covered in different shades of grey, we could expect a lighter colour scheme in the India-spec model. Meanwhile, the centre console is angled towards the driver and houses the central AC vents as well as controls for the infotainment and HVAC system. Lower down, there’s a neat cubby hole for storage as well as a wireless charging pad, 12V socket and 2 USB-C outlets.

The steering wheel in the new Duster is quite chunky and offers controls for various functions of the SUV. While the manual variants feature a gear lever borrowed from Renault cars, the automatic variants get toggle switches to select the drive modes. A few images of the new Duster’s cabin show a rotary dial behind the gear lever for toggling between the various terrain modes. However, the biggest highlight is the optional Sleep Pack that comes with a fold-out double bed that apparently takes less than 2 minutes to setup. You also get a table and a storage area as part of this package. It remains to be seen if this feature makes it to India.

Powertrain Options For The New Duster SUV

In Europe, the new Duster is offered with 3 engine options, including a 1.6L petrol hybrid, a 1.2L turbo petrol and an LPG option. The 1.6L petrol hybrid is paired with 2 electric motors and is only available with an automatic transmission. It even features a 1.2kWh battery and regenerative braking for an electric-only ride in the city. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine, on the other hand, comes with a 48V starter motor and produces 130PS of power. There are no diesel engine options this time around.

Off-road enthusiasts would like to note that the new Duster comes with 4x2 and 4x4 options. However, the all-wheel-drive is only available with the 1.2L mild hybrid engine. Like before, the new Duster does not get a proper four-wheel-drive system like the popular Maruti Suzuki Jimny but will include terrain modes like Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road and Eco. Other off-road oriented features include hill-descent control and an inclinometer built into the infotainment system.

New Duster India Launch Details

Renault India are expected to launch the new Duster SUV in India in the second half of 2025. When launched, the new Duster will compete with other C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the MG Astor. Renault India plan to offer the Duster with both 5- and 7-seat layout and Nissan will launch its own derivatives of the Duster a few months later.
