New Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 Top 7 Features

Top 7 Features Of New Maruti Suzuki Swift | V3Cars

Suzuki showcased the 2024 Swift hatchback at the Tokyo Motor Show and it comes equipped with several new features, including ADAS. In this article, we take a look at the top 7 features of the new Swift hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024

Top 7 Features Of New Swift

1. ADAS

The new Swift gets a radar sensor mounted on top of the grille for advanced driver assistance system, or ADAS. While the exact list of ADAS features on the new Swift are not available at the moment, images of the steering wheel and control panel confirms features like lane keeping assist, high beam assist and autonomous emergency braking. While the 2024 Swift will go on sale with ADAS in Japan and other global markets, we do not expect Maruti to offer this feature at the launch of the new hatchback next year. Butt that’s not to say the Swift won’t get ADAS in India at all. We expect Maruti Suzuki to offer ADAS with the Swift facelift, which is expected in 2027 or 2028. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki are currently working on equipping the Grand Vitara SUV with ADAS and it is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2024. The Baleno too could get ADAS before the Swift when it receives a facelift in a couple of years.

2. 9-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment System

The 2024 Swift that was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show was equipped with a large, free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen in the new Swift looks identical to the one offered in the top variants of the Baleno and Jimny from Maruti Nexa. This feature could not only make it to the India-spec Swift but also other Maruti Suzuki offerings in the country as well. The 9-inch touchscreen not only supports voice assist, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but also acts as a display for the next top feature of the 2024 Swift – 360-degree camera.

3. 360-Degree Camera With Dynamic Guidelines

The new Swift features cameras on the front grille, ORVMs and the tailgate to offer a 360-degree view of the car to ease parking. We expect the new Swift to offer dynamic guidelines and reverse park assist like the Baleno.

4. Front Parking Sensors

The 2024 Suzuki Swift featured front parking sensors on the bumper and grille. The Maruti Nexa Baleno already offers this feature in its top variants. Hence, there’s no reason why Maruti Suzuki won’t offer front parking sensors in the India-spec Swift 2024.

5. 3-Point Seatbelts and Adjustable Headrests For All 5 Passengers

The current Swift sold in India comes with a lap belt for the rear middle passengers and non-adjustable rear seat headrests in the lower variants. However, this could change with the new Swift as it offers 3-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests for all 5 passengers. Several cars in the segment now offer these features, including the new Hyundai Exter. When used correctly, adjustable headrests keeps you safe from whiplash in the event of a crash or impact with another vehicle or object.

6. Electronic Parking Brake

Another interesting feature found in the new Swift 2024 is the electronic parking brake. Previously, an electronic parking brake was reserved for cars equipped with a torque converter or CVT automatic transmission. However, this feature is slowly finding its way into mainstream cars with manual transmission and the new Swift is the latest car to get this feature. An electronic parking brake not only saves valuable space in the cabin but is also easy to use. It also allows the manufacturer to equip the cars with features like hill start assist that prevents the car from rolling backwards on a hill when you start from a standstill.

7. New 1.2L 3-Cylinder Petrol Engine

Arguably, the most exciting new feature of the new Swift is the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine codenamed the Z12. While the new Z12 engine is expected to replace the older K12 engine in global markets, we believe the India-spec Swift could be sold with both engine options. The Z12 is expected to be more fuel efficient and also offer more torque lower down the rev range for better acceleration. Reports suggest that this new 1.2-litre engine equipped with a strong hybrid system returns a fuel efficiency or mileage of over 30kmpl, which should help Maruti Suzuki achieve its Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) targets in the country. However, reports also claim that this engine sacrifices the K12 engine’s free-revving nature in favour of a higher torque output. When introduced in India, this new engine could be a gamechanger for Maruti Suzuki with regards to fuel efficiency and emissions.

Notable Feature: Heated Front Seats

The new Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show also features two buttons in between the front seats. These buttons control the heated front seats function and it is likely to be offered in markets that experience cold weather, such as the UK, Japan and Europe. Heated seats don’t make much sense in a hot and humid country like India and hence, Maruti Suzuki are likely to skip this feature entirely. However, ventilated seats would be much appreciated and we hope Maruti Suzuki find a way to equip the India-spec Swift with this feature without a major increment in price.
