Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 Launched At Rs. 2.45 Crore | V3Cars

Mercedes-Benz have launched the EQS 53 AMG electric sedan in India at a price of Rs. 2.45 crore ex-showroom. The EQS 53 AMG is Mercedes’ first-ever high-performance electric sedan and offers blistering performance. The locally-assembled EQS 580 will be launched at a later date at a lower price tag.

With the latest launch, Mercedes-Benz currently offer 2 EQ models in India – the EQC electric SUV and the EQS 53 AMG luxury sedan. The German carmaker will soon extend its EQ range with the launch of the EQS 580 and EQB 7-seater family SUV by FY2022. Mercedes-Benz India will allocate over 140 chargers, covering 80% of the country. These chargers will include 20+ 180kW ultra fast chargers, 20+ 60kW fast chargers and 100+ 22kW AC chargers. The EQS AMG 53 buyers will get 1 year complimentary free charging.

Powering the EQS 53 AMG are twin electric motors fed by a 107.8kWh battery pack. In the standard AMG model, this powertrain produces 658PS of power and 950Nm of torque. If you opt for the AMG Dynamic Plus package, the power and torque output bumps up to 761PS and 1020Nm, respectively. The standard AMG EQS can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.8 seconds, provided there is at least 80% charge left in the batteries. The AMG Dynamic Plus, on the other hand, does 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds.

The Mercedes EQS 53 AMG comes with other interesting features like 4-wheel-steering that can either reduce its turning circle or increase stability at high speeds. On the inside, the EQS 53 AMG comes with 3 connected screens that Mercedes like to call the ‘Hyperscreen’. The Hyperscreen setup remains exclusive to the EQS and EQE models whereas the ICE-converted models, such as the EQC, continue to offer the twin-screen MBUX setup.

While the EQS 53 AMG is a CBU offering, Mercedes-Benz will launch the locally-assembled EQS 580 soon. The EQS 53 AMG goes up against the likes of the Audi E-Tron RS GT and Porsche Taycan Turbo S in India. The EQS 580, on the other hand, will rival the Audi E-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan when launched.
