In this May 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the manufacturer-wise sales figures along with the YoY and MoM change for each carmaker in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend of car sales for all manufacturers.

Manufacturer-Wise May 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

In terms of percentage, Toyota posted the best YoY improvement of 1345% because of the low numbers in the May of 2021
Skoda also posted a healthy 543% YoY improvement because of the addition of Slavia and Kushaq to the portfolio
Maruti Suzuki gained 278% along with Honda also posting a respectable 303% gain

Manufacturer-Wise May 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

In terms of MoM change, most carmakers witnessed a drop
Among volume sellers, Renault and Toyota were the top MoM gainers posting a growth of 51.6% and 47.7%, respectively
MG were top loser with a 50% lower MoM sales figure
Maruti Suzuki saw its MoM sales decline by 2% in May 2022
Mahindra witnessed a drop of 17% while Tata’s numbers drop 4%
