Maruti Suzuki Small MPV Incoming To Rival Renault Triber | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki are reportedly working on a small MPV based on the Spacia to rival the Renault Triber and its upcoming Nissan derivative. Know more about the Maruti small MPV here.
Maruti Suzuki Spacia-Based MPV Under Development
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki are likely to launch a small MPV to rival the Renault Triber in 2026. The Spacia-based MPV could become the fourth new Maruti Suzuki offering in the country after the new-gen Swift hatchback, Dzire sedan and the eVX electric SUV. Codenamed the YDB, the small MPV is expected to fit under 4 metres in length and offer 3 rows of seats like the Triber. The small MPV is likely to be sold via Maruti’s Nexa dealerships and is likely to get a starting price of Rs. 6.0 lakh.

In terms of design, the small MPV is expected to look different from the Spacia that’s sold in Japan. It could also lose the Spacia’s sliding rear doors for a more cost-effective set of conventional doors. While the Spacia can only seat 4 adults, the Maruti Suzuki small MPV is likely to offer seating for 7 passengers. Expect features like a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and other premium features in the upcoming small MPV. As far as powertrain options are concerned, we expect the small MPV to be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options as the upcoming Swift and Dzire.
When launched, the Maruti Suzuki small MPV will slot below the Ertiga and XL6 and rival the Renault Triber as well as its Nissan derivative, which is expected to launch in late-2024.
