Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara Gets 45,000 Bookings In 52 Days | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki have received a little over 45,000 bookings for the upcoming Nexa Grand Vitara SUV till the end of August 2022. The bookings opened on July 11, 2022. It looks like the Grand Vitara is adding a new chapter to Maruti Suzuki’s book as they challenge the Korean twins with some help from Toyota.
Skill-Share
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have together worked on the engine, transmission, frame, design and features for the Grand Vitara and Hyryder. On the engine and transmission side, Toyota contributed heavily towards the development of the strong hybrid engine. It’s a good thing because Toyota have tremendous expertise of over 2 decades in making hybrid vehicles.

On the other hand, the 2 SUVs also share Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5L mild hybrid petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki have had this tech in the Indian market for more than half a decade. So, this engine is also polished enough to offer smooth ownership experience and long-term reliability.
Diesel SUVs In Danger
While the hatchback-like proportions of the S-Cross failed to excite C-segment SUV buyers, the Grand Vitara seems to have clicked just right. The option of 4WD further solidifies the Grand Vitara’s claim over the SUV badge. Meanwhile, the strong hybrid powertrain is trying to make diesel engines redundant. The 27.97kmpl fuel efficiency figure of the Grand Vitara hybrid will make even die-hard diesel SUV fans reconsider their decision to buy a diesel-automatic SUV. For reference, the Seltos diesel-automatic has an official mileage figure of 18kmpl.
