Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Zeta Base Variant Spotted | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki revealed the Jimny 5 door at the 2023 Auto Expo and also commenced its bookings. Maruti Suzuki offer the Jimny 5 door in 2 variants – Zeta and Alpha – via their Nexa chain of dealerships. The Jimny 5 door showcased at the Auto Expo was a top-spec Alpha variant. Now, images of the Jimny 5 door Zeta variant have emerged online, revealing a few key details and differences between the Alpha and Zeta variants of the Jimny 5 door.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Zeta Variant Exterior Details

In terms of exterior design and features, the Jimny Zeta variant gets a couple of changes over the Alpha variant. Starting with the front profile, the Jimny Zeta lacks projector headlights, LED DRLs, fog lights and headlight washers. Around the side, the Jimny Zeta variant gets black steel wheels shod with 195/80 R15 tyres. Furthermore, it gets body-coloured door handles, electrically-adjustable black ORVMs and chunky cladding around the wheel arches. It is worth mentioning that the brochure of the Jimny 5 door doesn’t mention body-coloured door handles for the Zeta variant. At the rear, the Jimny Zeta variant gets a fabric spare wheel cover while the Alpha variant gets a hard shell cover.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Zeta Variant Interior And Features

The Zeta variant of theJimny that was spied recently was equipped with Maruti Suzuki’s 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Like the Alpha variant, the Zeta variant of the Jimny 5 door comes with an all-black, scratch-resistant dashboard. However, it lacks a couple of features that the Alpha variant offers. The missing features include the 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop and Arkamys sound system.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Powertrain Details

The Jimny 5 door shares its 1.5L normal petrol engine with the global-spec Jimny 3 door. The same engine also powers other Maruti cars, such as the Ciaz. This 1.5L normal petrol engine produces 105PS of power at 6000rpm and 134Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Maruti offer the Jimny 5 door with 2 transmission options — 5 speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Jimny 5 door comes with a 4-wheel drivetrain and a low range transfer case as standard.

Maruti Suzuki commenced bookings for the Jimny 5 door at the 2023 Auto Expo. The carmaker is likely to launch the new Jimny in April 2023. The Jimny 5 door rivals the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in India. Currently, among the 3 SUVs, only the Jimny comes with a 5 door option. However, both Mahindra and Force are working on 5 door versions of the Thar and Gurkha, respectively. The 5 door iterations of the Thar and Gurkha are expected to be substantially larger than the Jimny 5 door and come at a higher price tag than their respective 3 door versions. Recently, Mahindra introduced the Thar 2WD diesel variant with a smaller 1.5L turbo diesel engine and a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh.
