Top 5 Differences – Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Vs Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki have revealed the all-new Grand Vitara and as we expected, it is very similar to its sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki joined hands to develop these 2 hybrid SUVs and they will hit showrooms near the festive season this year.
While the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder are similar on many fronts, here are the top differences between both C-Segment SUVs.
1. Visual Differences
The all-new Grand Vitara looks very different from the front and back, in comparison to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Grand Vitara offers a large single piece grille with honeycomb mesh and chrome surrounds whereas the Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets a slim enclosed grille atop a large radiator grille. The Grand Vitara also gets a unique Nexa signature LED DRL and tail lamp pattern with a 3-pot design. The Hyryder gets sleeker LED DRLs, connecting the chrome grille garnishing on either side and C-shaped LED tail lamps connecting the chrome bar.

The Grand Vitara gets a different machined alloy wheel design over the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In my opinion, the Grand Vitara’s design looks simpler
2. Variant Segregation
Maruti Suzuki will offer the Grand Vitara in a total of 6 variants — Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Apha, Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus. It is worth mentioning that only the Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants come with the hybrid powertrain, thus making it easier for buyers to decipher the powertrain inside the Plus variants. On the other hand, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes in 4 variants — E, S, G and V with the latter 3 variants also getting the hybrid drivetrain. Hence, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will offer the hybrid powertrain at a more affordable starting price point; although with fewer features.
3. Powertrain Output
Both the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder use the same set of engine-transmission combinations. While the Grand Vitara gets the hybrid powertrain without any perceptible changes, the 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol engine gets some subtle retuning over the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In the Grand Vitara, the mild-hybrid engine produces 103.06PS of power at 6000rpm and 136.8Nm of torque at 4400rpm. On the other hand, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder mild-hybrid produces 101.9PS of power at 6000rpm and 135Nm of torque at 4400rpm.
4. Fuel Efficiency
Maruti Suzuki have revealed the fuel efficiency figures of the new Grand Vitara. It offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.11kmpl, 20.58kmpl and 19.38kmpl with the 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol-manual, automatic and manual 4WD powertrains. The Grand Vitara Hybrid comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl, which is class-leading in the C-Segment SUV segment. Toyota India are yet to reveal the fuel efficiency figures of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, but we expect it to offer marginally lower.

It comes with a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty that customers can extend to 5-year/2,20,000km. In addition to that, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder also gets an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty for its hybrid system.
