Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara To Get ADAS Soon? | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki are reportedly working on equipping the Grand Vitara with ADAS. Set to launch in the first quarter of 2024, the Grand Vitara with ADAS will rival the Kia Seltos facelift and MG Astor. Read on to know more.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Likely To Get ADAS In Q1 2024

Once considered a luxury feature, ADAS, or advanced driver assistance systems, have made their way into mass-market cars that you and I can afford. Currently, ADAS is available in B2- and C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Seltos facelift. The Grand Vitara from Maruti Suzuki competes in the C-SUV segment, which is home to not only the Seltos but also the first car in the segment to offer ADAS – the MG Astor. Like sunroofs, ADAS is now considered a high aspirational feature among C-segment car buyers. This leaves the Grand Vitara, and its Toyota cousin, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, exposed to the Kia and MG SUVs.

However, that could soon change as new reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki are planning to launch the Grand Vitara with ADAS in the first quarter of 2024. Back in July this year, Maruti Suzuki revealed that they are extensively testing ADAS in Indian road conditions. This could probably explain why Maruti decided not to equip the Invicto MPV with ADAS features while the MPV it is based on, the Toyota Innova Hycross, offers these features in the top variants.

The latest reports suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara could gain ADAS features such as forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, etc. We expect the Grand Vitara ADAS variants to attract a premium of Rs. 50,000 to Rs.75,000 over the equivalent non-ADAS equipped variants. And, of course, if the Grand Vitara gets ADAS, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder won’t be far behind and could get the same features a month or two later.

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is priced between Rs. 10.70 lakh and Rs. 19.83 lakh. It is available with 2 engine options – a 1.5L petrol CNG, 1.5L petrol mild hybrid and a 1.5L petrol strong hybrid. The normal petrol engine with a mild hybrid system is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It is also available with optional all-wheel-drive as well. The 1.5L strong hybrid engine in the Grand Vitara can only be had with an eCVT automatic transmission.

The 1.5L petrol mild-hybrid produces 103PS of power at 6000rpm and 137Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The 1.5L petrol strong hybrid churns out 116PS of power at 5500rpm and 141Nm of torque at 3995rpm. The 1.5L CNG is rated to deliver 88PS of power at 5500rpm and 122Nm of torque at 4200rpm.
