Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Officially Discontinued | V3Cars

While there were reports circulating about the discontinuation of the Alto 800, we were waiting for official confirmation of the same. There were hints about this detail in the March production numbers as the Alto’s numbers (Alto 800 + K10) dropped drastically. Moreover, the Alto 800 didn’t receive any price update in April, when every single model in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio got a price hike.

Now, we have official confirmation of the matter, although Maruti Suzuki have neither said it out loud that the Alto 800 is out of production nor have they released official communication to confirm the same. However, in a recent communication about updating their cars to BS6 Phase 2, a little detail caught our attention. In the press release shared with the media, Maruti Suzuki said:

“Maruti Suzuki has a comprehensive offering of 15 vehicles ranging from Hatchbacks, Sedans, SUVs, MUVs and commercial vehicle(s). The company recently launched its sporty SUV FRONX and will also soon be launching the true blue off-roader Jimny SUV in the country.”

Excluding the Fronx in the list, which they mentioned separately, the list of vehicles completes 15 models even if we exclude the Alto 800. This little piece of information finally confirms that the Alto 800 is no longer on sale.

The Alto twins rarely drop below the 10,000 monthly production figure and in the month of March, the Alto’s numbers fell down to 8,648. The Alto 800 also didn’t get a price update, solidifying our doubts.
