Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Secures 2 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Test | V3Cars
In the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests, the new Alto K10 scored a 2-star rating for adult occupant safety and a 0-star rating for child occupant safety. Read on to know more details about the crash test.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Scores 2 Stars In Global NCAP Test
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 secured a 2-star rating in adult occupant safety and a 0-star rating in child occupant safety. In the adult occupant safety test, the Alto K10 received 21.67 points out of a maximum 34 points and in child occupant safety, it scored 3.52 points out of a maximum 49 points. The bodyshell integrity of the Alto K10 was found stable and it was capable of withstanding further loads. The footwell area, on the other hand, was found unstable.

In the frontal impact test, the Alto K10 offered good protection to the driver and co-driver’s neck. The protection provided to the driver and co-driver’s chest was found marginal. Furthermore, while the driver’s knee showed marginal protection, the co-driver’s knee received weak protection with a possible impact with dangerous structures behind the fascia.
In the side impact crash test, the Alto K10 offered good protection to the head and pelvis region whereas protection for abdomen and chest was found adequate and weak, respectively. Since the Alto K10 doesn’t offer side airbags, Global NCAP did not perform the side pole impact test. In the child occupant test, the Alto K10 failed to prevent excessive movement during the impact, exposing the head to high risk of injuries.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 offers standard safety features such as front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters. The Alto K10 doesn’t offer electronic stability program (ESP) in any of its variants.
