Maruti Suzuki Achieve Cumulative Domestic Sales Of 25 Million Cars | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), which is a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, achieved 25 million cumulative domestic sales in India. Maruti Suzuki continues to be India’s largest carmaker and commands over 50% market share.

Maruti Suzuki Achieve 25 Million Domestic Sales

Suzuki began their India operations with Maruti Udyog in 1982 and rolled out their first car — the Maruti 800 — in December, 1983. The Maruti 800 became an instant success and later paved the way for the launch of other Maruti offerings, such as the Alto, Wagon-R and Swift.

Since 2010, Maruti Suzuki have sold around 2.1 million hybrid and CNG vehicles. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offer 17 models in the Indian market that are manufactured locally. Furthermore, the carmaker leads the CNG passenger segment, offering the widest range of CNG-equipped hatchbacks, sedans, vans and SUVs. However, other carmakers, such as Tata Motors and Hyundai, have started to catch up with their respective CNG models.

Apart from CNG, Maruti Suzuki are also focusing on strong hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles. The carmaker recently launched the Grand Vitara with mild hybrid, strong hybrid and petrol-CNG powertrain options. Furthermore, Suzuki also shared their EV strategy for India, which includes the introduction of 6 battery electric vehicles by 2030.
