Maruti Suzuki Willing To Offer CNG Cars Via Nexa Dealerships | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki could soon launch CNG cars under their premium Nexa chain of dealerships. While Maruti hold the biggest share in the CNG market, many of their premium cars do not get a CNG powertrain due to the brand differentiation between Arena and Nexa. Soon, however, we could see a slew of CNG-powered cars from the Nexa brand as well.

With fuel prices rising constantly, many carmakers are entering the CNG market. For a long time, brands saw CNG as a cheaper alternative to petrol or diesel cars. However, customers these days are looking for cars with premium features and low running costs, kickstarting the trend of premium CNG cars.

Tata were the first to offer the option of a CNG powertrain in the top-spec variants of the Tiago and Tigor. The recently-launched 2022 Ertiga also gets the option of CNG in the second-top, VXi variant, which was earlier limited to the lower LXi variant. Kia are also testing their CNG powertrains with the Sonet 1.0L turbo petrol and Carens 1.4L turbo petrol in higher variants.

We can expect to see the first Nexa CNG car in the form of the 2022 Baleno CNG. Previously, we reported how Maruti unintentionally revealed their plans for the Baleno CNG. Hence, we can expect to see the 2022 Baleno CNG on sale as soon as July 2022. It will likely come with the same powertrain as the Dzire CNG, producing 78PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti could offer the CNG powertrain upward of the Sigma variant in the Baleno.
Other Nexa CNG cars we could expect from Maruti include the 2022 XL6 CNG and Ignis CNG. After all, the XL6 uses the same powertrain as the 2022 Ertiga while the Ignis gets the same engine as the Dzire and Baleno.
