Mahindra is gearing up to launch the XUV700 in India soon. And as the launch is getting closer, Mahindra is revealing various features of the upcoming SUV. In the latest, the carmaker has confirmed that the XUV700 will be equipped with an air purifier.

Called the ‘Smart Filter’, Mahindra claims it filters out 99 per cent bacteria and 95 per cent virus though it has not been tested against the Covid-19 virus. That said, it won’t be the first SUV in its class to get an air purifier as the recently launched Hyundai Alcazar is also equipped with an air purifier.

Other features confirmed on the Mahindra XUV700 include a panoramic sunroof (biggest-in-segment) and various segment-first features like flush-fitting door handles, auto boost headlamps (high beam assist), personalized voice safety alerts and Driver Drowsiness Detection.

The XUV700 should also be equipped with features like LED headlamps, a Mercedes-like dual-screen setup for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, dual-zone AC, a premium sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, ventilated and powered front seats, connected car tech, up to 6 airbags, hill launch assist, hill descent control and electronic stability program.

Mahindra XUV700 is also expected to be the first-in-class to be equipped with level 1 autonomous features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane keep assist and autonomous emergency braking.

Under the hood, the XUV700 is expected to share its engines with the Thar but in a higher state of tune. On the Thar, the 2.0-litre turbo petrol makes 150PS and 320Nm while the 2.0-litre diesel unit makes 130PS and 300Nm. On the XUV700, petrol and diesel engines are expected to make 190PS and 180PS, respectively. Like the Thar, the XUV700 is also expected to be offered 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options along with a 4WD system.

Prices of the XUV700 are expected to range from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 22 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar.
