Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spotted Again With A Sunroof

Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spotted Again With A Sunroof | V3Cars

A new spy shot of the Mahindra Thar 5 door confirms that the upcoming SUV will offer a single-pane sunroof. The Mahindra Thar 5 door launch will take place in 2024. Read on to know more about the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5 door.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door

Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spotted With Sunroof

Currently, no variant of the Mahindra Thar offers the option of a sunroof because its hard top is made out of rugged plastic panels. For those who fancy an open top experience, Mahindra offer a convertible top for the Thar. However, since the Thar 5 door will be targeted as a family friendly SUV, having a soft top wouldn’t make sense. Hence, we expect Mahindra to offer the Thar 5 door with a fixed metal roof and that will also allow them to offer a single pane sunroof, as seen in the spy shot. It is worth mentioning that the sunroof is placed between the front and 2nd-row seats, which is not seen in any other SUV in the market.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Exterior Details

The new spy shots of the Thar 5 door also reveal its silhouette and key design elements. The Thar 5 door boasts a longer wheelbase than the Thar 3 door and the increased length should free up more space for the 2nd row passengers and increase boot space as well. In terms of design, the Thar 5 door will continue to feature round headlights, Mahindra’s signature grille with vertical slats, and external hinges for the hood release.

Around the side, the Thar 5 door is likely to offer a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, accompanied by squared-off wheel arches and exposed hinges on the doors. The new spy shots also reveal the rear door handles placed on the C-pillar rather than under the windowline. At the rear, the Thar 5 door will continue to offer LED tail lights and a boot-mounted spare wheel.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Interior Details

We expect the Thar 5 door to offer a similar interior layout as the Thar 3 door. However, the Thar 5 door could include a few new features that could eventually find their way into the smaller Thar as well. Thanks to the increased length and wheelbase, the Thar 5 door is likely to offer increased space, especially in the 2nd row. We also expect the Thar 5 door to incorporate a traditional bench seat over the individual chairs in the 3 door model. Furthermore, we won’t be surprised if Mahindra offer the option of 3-row seating with the Thar 5 door — making it more practical for large families.

The Thar 5 door could also offer some new features like an improved infotainment system, front and rear armrests, an updated instrument cluster, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and a reverse parking camera.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 door to carry the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to also offer the 200PS tune with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine.
