Mahindra Thar 2WD Features And Engine Specifications Officially Revealed | V3Cars
Mahindra have released the Thar SUV’s new brochure that includes the features and specifications of the Thar 2WD. Mahindra will offer the Thar 2WD in both AX optional and LX variants with both 1.5L turbo diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol engine options.

The Thar 2WD diesel variants feature the 1.5L turbo diesel engine seen in the XUV300 and Marazzo. It’s worth mentioning that this engine will come with a rear-wheel-drive setup for the first time. It produces 118PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The 2.0L turbo petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 152PS of power and 320Nm of torque and comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission only.

Mahindra Thar 2WD Features
Mahindra will offer the Thar 2WD in AX optional and LX variants. Take a look at the features of the AX optional variant:
- 16-inch steel wheels
- LED tail lights
- Tilt-adjustable steering wheel
- Height adjustable driver seat
- Central locking
- Manual day/night IRVM
- Brake-locking differential
- Electronic stability control
- Hill-hold and hill-descent control
- Internally-adjustable ORVM

Here are the additional features of the LX over the AX optional variant:
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Front fog lamps
- Cruise control
- Steering mounted controls
- Touchscreen infotainment system
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 4 speakers and 2 tweeters
- Electronically-adjustable ORVMs
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
Mahindra are likely to commence bookings for the Thar 2WD soon. The That 2WD is expected to go on sale in January 2023. The Thar 2WD diesel could get a sub-Rs. 10 lakh price tag, thanks to the smaller 1.5L turbo diesel engine and rear-wheel drivetrain.
