Mahindra Produce 14,000 XUV700s In 90 Days | V3Cars
Since the deliveries began on October 30, Mahindra have produced 14,000 units of the XUV700. Mahindra achieved this milestone within 90 days, as the deliveries of the petrol variants began on October 30, 2021. Mahindra will soon deliver the billed XUV700s to their respective owners. Since Mahindra opened the bookings on October 7, 2021, they have received almost 1,00,000 bookings for the XUV700. They are expecting to touch the 1,00,000 bookings milestone soon. If they do, the XUV700 will become the fastest SUV in India to cross 1 lakh bookings.
Mahindra also revealed that currently, XUV700 commands a waiting period of 6 to 10 months. The top variant AX7 has a waiting period of more than 12 months. Mahindra are suffering from the global semiconductor chip shortage, like everyone in the industry. Mahindra claim that they are trying their best to cope up with the backlog of orders.

Mahindra gave us an insight into the constituents of this large number of bookings. Automatic transmission accounts for 60% of the bookings while the petrol variants account for 35%. The remaining bookings are for the diesel manual powertrain.
Even though XUV700 is a D1 segment SUV, we can see high demand for its petrol engine. Buyers of this category usually buy diesel SUVs for their better fuel efficiency and low-end performance. As of now, some of its competitors like Tata Harrier and Tata Safari do not even offer a petrol engine.

The powerful 2.0L turbo petrol engine of XUV700 might explain this high demand for petrol powertrains, along with the 10-year rule for diesel cars in most of the states. This engine produces 200PS of power and 380Nm of torque. Mahiindra offer a 6-speed torque converter unit with the diesel and petrol XUV700. Apart from selling it to the masses, Mahindra have also gifted some customised XUV700s to India’s Olympic and Paralympic champions like Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil. Mahindra recently gifted a customised XUV700 to paralympic champion Avani Lekhara for her performance in the Paralympics.
