Mahindra Partner With Volkswagen To Source MEB Components | V3Cars

Mahindra have joined hands with the Volkswagen group to source  MEB components for their range. Mahindra intend to equip their platform with MEB components such as electric motors, battery system management and battery cells. MEB is Volkswagen’s modular electric platform which underpins a host of Volkswagen group cars.

It is worth noting that Mahindra are only looking to source the battery cells, battery management system (BMS) and electric motors. The platform that will underpin the upcoming all-electric Mahindra SUVs will be produced by Mahindra. However, we expect Mahindra to use its resources at Pininfarina and other external resources. Mahindra have stated that they expect to finalise the details of the partnership by the end of 2022.

Volkswagen's MEB platform has been designed keeping modularity in mind. In addition to that, it’s an open platform with various variables playing a key role in the background. Hence, many carmakers are considering adopting the MEB platform in their future electric offerings. It goes without saying that a high degree of modularity and platform sharing reduces costs by a big margin, thereby benefiting customers.

Mahindra are likely to reveal three Born Electric SUV concepts in July 2022. The Indian SUV-maker has released numerous teasers of the same — flaunting their futuristic design. We expect Mahindra to launch these electric SUVs over the next couple of years.
