Mahindra Alturas G4 SUV Discontinued In India — No Replacement In Sight | V3Cars
Mahindra have discontinued the Alturas G4 D2-segment SUV. Based on the Ssangyong Rexton, the Alturas G4 was the flagship model in Mahindra’s portfolio. The decision to discontinue the SUV comes a little over 2 months after Mahindra launched the Alturas G4 2WD High variant.
Mahindra Alturas G4 Removed From Website
Mahindra have removed the Alturas G4 from their website. Mahindra launched the Alturas G4 in India back in 2019 with 2-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive options. Fast forward to September 2022, Mahindra discontinued the 4WD option and brought a new 2WD High variant. It was priced at Rs. 30.68 lakh, making it Rs. 1.20 lakh cheaper than the 4WD High variant.

Mahindra Alturas G4 Key Features
Take a look at the notable features of the Alturas G4 2WD High:
The Alturas G4 2WD High variant offered the same list of features as the 4WD High variant. These included 9 airbags, 360-degree parking camera, electric parking brake, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, front ventilated seats, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory, dual-zone climate control and an electronic tailgate.
Will the Alturas G4 Make A Comeback In India?
As we stated earlier, the Alturas G4 is based on the Ssangyong Rexton G4. Ssangyong is a South Korean carmaker which was taken over by Mahindra back in 2013. However, Mahindra stopped investing in Ssangyong last year owing to several factors. Hence, it’s safe to assume that the Alturas G4 will not return to the Indian market. Furthermore, most D2-segment SUV buyers often overlooked the Mahindra Alturas G4 for the Toyota Fortuner, which has dominated the segment ever since it was introduced in 2009.

Ssangyong launched a facelifted version of the Rexton last year and even though there were several rumours about it arriving in India with a Mahindra badge, we do not expect the Alturas/Rexton to make a comeback anytime soon. As the Alturas G4 is now discontinued, the only SUV in Mahindra’s lineup that shares its genes with a Ssangyong product is the XUV300.
