Made-In-India Jeep Wrangler Launched; Priced At Rs 53.9 Lakh | V3Cars

Jeep has finally launched made-in-India Wrangler in India. It is now priced from Rs 53.9 lakh to Rs 57.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It costs Rs 11 lakh less than the CBU import version which was on sale in the country earlier.

Here is a detailed comparison:

Variant

Made In India

CBU Import

Unlimited

Rs 53.9 lakh

Rs 63.94 lakh (+Rs 10.04 lakh)

Rubicon

Rs 57.9 lakh

Rs 68.94 lakh (+Rs 11.04 lakh)

Save for the price, everything else on the Jeep Wrangler has remained unchanged. It is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It makes 286PS and 400Nm paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Both the variants of the Wrangler are offered with a 4WD system.

While the more affordable Unlimited variant comes with a Selec-Trac 4WD system with a low range gearbox (crawl ratio 2.72:1), the Rubicon variant gets a more capable Rock-Trac 4WD system (crawl ratio 4:1). It also gets a two-speed transfer case, heavy-duty front and rear axles, larger approach, break-over and departure angles, front and rear differential locks and electronic sway bar disconnect, making it a more capable off-roader than the Wrangler Unlimited.

To further enhance its off-road capabilities, the Wrangler Rubicon comes with off-road-focused 255/75 R17 tyres instead of the 255/70 R18 all-terrain tyres offered on the Wrangler Unlimited. The Rubicon variant also sits higher at 217mm, 3mm more than Wrangler Unlimited.

In terms of features, both variants of the Wrangler are identically equipped. Standard features on offer include automatic projector LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, DRLs, a 7-inch driver’s display, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone AC and a parking camera. Safety features on offer include four airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist with rollover mitigation, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

At the new price of around 60 lakh, the Wrangler has no direct rivals in India. However, it can be seen as a much affordable alternative to other premium off-road SUVs like the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes Benz G-Class.
