Kia Sonet Facelift Spotted With Refreshed Exterior Design | V3Cars
The Kia Sonet, which was launched in India in 2020, is due for an update soon. Recently, the global-spec Kia Sonet facelift was spotted, revealing several exterior design changes. Most of the new design elements are likely to find their way into the India-spec Sonet facelift, which is set to launch in 3-4 months from now. So, let’s take a look at the images to see what’s changed in the upcoming 2024 Kia Sonet.
Kia Sonet Facelift Design Changes
The Kia Sonet in the image is the global model that measures over 4 metres in length. However, we can expect similar changes in the India-spec Sonet, which competes in the B2 SUV segment. Up front, the most noticeable changes are the sharper looking headlamps and grille. Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille now gets sharper edges while the mesh pattern remains more or less the same. The headlamps are more angular than before and feature both horizontal and vertical LED DRLs that extend into the front bumpers. We could expect the vertical DRLs to also function as the turn indicators.
The side profile of the Kia Sonet facelift remains largely unchanged. The only visual change here are the new set of alloy wheels. At the rear, the Kia Sonet facelift now gets redesigned connected LED taillamp setup that is reminiscent of the taillamps found in the Kia Carens and Seltos facelift that was launched recently. Meanwhile, the rear bumper looks meatier with a larger faux skid plate. The global-spec Kia Sonet in the images also feature silver roof rails and a single-pane sunroof.
The global-spec Kia Sonet facelift pictured here does not feature ADAS sensors at the front or cameras on the windshield like in the Tata Nexon 2023. Hence, we do not expect Kia India to offer ADAS with the Sonet just yet.

Kia Sonet Facelift Interior Changes
While the latest images do not offer a glimpse of the Sonet facelift’s interior, we expect it to feature minor revisions based on previous spy shots. We could expect new elements such as touch-based HVAC control panel with haptic feedback, a fully-digital instrument cluster and new upholstery options as well.
Kia Sonet Engine Options
As far as powertrain options are concerned, we do not expect any changes with the Sonet facelift. Hence, expect Kia to offer it with the same 1.2-litre normal petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines as before. The 1.2-litre normal petrol could continue to come with the 5-speed manual while the turbo petrol and diesel will offer the 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) as before. Higher variants of the Sonet turbo petrol and diesel will also get the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) and 6-speed torque converter automatic (TC), respectively.
When launched the Kia Sonet facelift will continue to rival the new Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Nexa Fronx, Maruti Arena Brezza, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite, among others. Currently, the Kia Sonet is priced between Rs. 7.80 lakh and Rs. 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
