Kia Carnival Facelift Continues Testing Ahead Of 2024 Debut

New Kia Carnival Continues Testing Ahead Of India Launch In 2024 | V3Cars

The upcoming Kia Carnival was spied testing yet again recently. The 2024 Carnival MPV is likely to become Kia India’s second product launch after the Sonet facelift. Spy shots from late last year confirmed Kia India’s intentions of launching the Carnival facelift, which made its global debut in October 2023. The latest spy shots show a heavily camouflaged MPV being put through its paces.

New Kia Carnival 2024 Spied

Kia unveiled the KA4 concept, a glimpse of the upcoming new generation Carnival MPV, at the 2023 Auto Expo. Following this, the Carnival facelift made its debut in various international markets in October 2023. Interestingly, Kia discontinued the third-generation Carnival in India without prior notice in April 2023. Contrary to the Auto Expo showcase, these spy shots reveal that India will receive the updated Carnival facelift.

The Carnival facelift embraces Kia's contemporary design language, sporting an SUV-inspired appearance, notably a more upright nose. The design is dominated by an expansive grille, distinct L-shaped LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), and an elegant brushed silver aluminium skid plate. Further enhancing its appeal, the front bumper incorporates LED fog lamps and houses radar sensors for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Kia Carnival Facelift Interior And Features

In South Korea, the Kia Carnival facelift offers versatile seating options in 4-, 7-, and 9-seater configurations. Inside, buyers can choose from 3 interior themes—taupe, navy grey, and beige. The Carnival facelift model comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and amenities like multi-zone climate control, wireless charging, an air purifier, and ambient lighting.

A standout feature for rear passengers is the 14.6-inch Full HD dual screen system fitted onto the front seat headrests, forming part of Kia's innovative rear-seat entertainment setup. It allows occupants to stream content from various OTT platforms.

Prioritising safety, the new Kia Carnival facelift is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 8 airbags, a digital inside rearview mirror, and a safe exit assist function for the rear doors.

Kia Carnival Facelift Powertrain Options And India Launch

In South Korea, the Kia Carnival facelift is offered with 3 engine options – a 3.5-litre normal petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel. The previous generation Kia Carnival sold in India was offered with the 2.2-litre diesel engine until the MPV was discontinued. We expect Kia India to offer the new model with the same engine option this time around too. In the now-discontinued Carnival, the 2.2-litre diesel engine produced 200PS of power and 440Nm of torque.

The new Kia Carnival facelift is expected to go on sale in India in 2014. When launched, the D2-segment MPV will have no direct rivals in the country. The new Toyota Innova Hycross is the closest competitor to the new Kia Carnival. Since the new Kia Carnival sports an SUV-esque design, it could also serve as an alternative to the D2-segment 3-row SUVs such as the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
