Jeep Grand Cherokee Expected Prices — Launch This Month

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Expected Prices Ahead Of November Launch | V3Cars

The made-in-India Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to be launched in November. Jeep India have confirmed the Grand Cherokee November launch timeline and it will be the final new car launch from the brand for 2022. The 5th-generation Grand Cherokee will be assembled in India alongside the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler. Thanks to local assembly, Jeep are likely to price the Grand Cherokee competitively. Let’s take a look at the expected price of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and how it stacks up against its rivals in terms of dimensions and engine specs.

FCA India have confirmed that the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be assembled in India to keep prices competitive. The new Grand Cherokee will come with the same 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine as the Jeep Wrangler. Local assembly and powertrain sharing should help Jeep India price the Grand Cherokee around the Rs. 80.0 lakh price range, which should make it more affordable than the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90. However, it is worth noting that the Grand Cherokee’s rivals offer larger 3.0L turbo petrol and diesel engine options.

Jeep India are likely to offer the Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. The smaller petrol engine makes the Grand Cherokee less powerful than its rivals. It also packs less technology compared to its rivals. For example, the 2.0L turbo petrol engine of the Volvo XC90 and the 3.0L turbo petrol of the Audi Q7 are mated to a mild-hybrid system, making them more expensive. The Mercedes-Benz GLE, on the other hand, comes with a 48V integrated starter motor to aid efficiency. The Jeep Grand Cherokee’s relatively simpler tech should help the American manufacturer price their flagship SUV lower than its rivals and closer to our expected prices. Furthermore, local assembly should help Jeep navigate around high import taxes.

However, what the Jeep Grand Cherokee lacks in terms of cutting edge powertrain technology, it more than makes up for it with its 4x4 drivetrain with Jeep’s terrain modes, including 4x4 low. None of its rivals are proven off-road vehicles.

While the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee is neither the longest nor widest SUV in its class, it is the tallest. Like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will only come with 2 rows of seats in India. The Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90, on the other hand, are available with seating for up to 7 passengers. However, Jeep does offer a long-wheelbase version of the Grand Cherokee in the US with a 3-row seating layout, measuring 5204mm in length. Jeep India are yet to confirm if this variant will make it to India.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Exterior, Interior And Features

The new Grand Cherokee gets a sharper design over its predecessor with slimmer headlights and tail lights. The front gets Jeep’s signature 7-slat grille and ‘Jeep’ logo. Squared-off wheel arches, body cladding and machine-cut alloy wheels give the Grand Cherokee a rugged appeal. At the rear, the American SUV gets slim LED tail lights and a rear windshield with chrome surrounds. Overall, the new Grand Cherokee looks fresh and premium and carries a unique appeal over its German rivals.

Like the exteriors, the interiors of the Grand Cherokee are all-new and premium. The dashboard is dominated by a vertically-stacked 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, TomTom maps and a premium Alpine sound system. In the US, the Limited variant offers a secondary 10.1-inch touchscreen display for the co-passenger. This feature is unlikely to make its way into the India-spec Grand Cherokee if Jeep wants to keep prices competitive.

However, we can expect features such as a digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, powered tailgate, terrain response modes, remote engine start and heated 2nd-row seats as standard.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Launch Date

The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to launch on November 11, 2022. When launched, it will compete with full-size SUVs such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
