India-made Volkswagen T-Cross Export Begins | V3Cars

Volkswagen India have started to export the T-Cross from India. The T-Cross is nothing but a rebranded Taigun, making it the first global VW model to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. However, it gets a panoramic sunroof, whereas the Taigun gets the regular-sized electric sunroof. Volkswagen India manufacture the T-Cross in India and exports it to Mexico. The German carmaker has stated that it has exported 1,232 units of T-Cross in the first phase.

The Indian subsidiary of Volkswagen currently exports its products to 61 countries around the world. These include South America, Central America, and Africa. Volkswagen started their export operations back in 2011, by exporting 6,256 Vento sedans to the South African market. Since then, Volkswagen India group have exported 5,45,653 cars to various global markets, with Mexico holding the largest share.

VW T-Cross

The T-Cross is the first Volkswagen to make use of the heavily localised MQB-A0-IN platform and it is now extending its presence to the global markets. It comes with two engine options – a 1.0L turbo petrol with 115PS and 175Nm and a 1.5L turbo petrol with 150PS and 250Nn. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, the 1.0L turbo petrol can also be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the 1.5L engine gets the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
