2023 Honda WR-V Secures 5 Stars In ASEAN NCAP Crash Test | V3Cars

The new-gen Honda WR-V scored 5 stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test. The top-spec RS variant was tested with Honda Sensing tech, which includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The WR-V secured 14.88 points in the frontal impact crash test. The head and legs of both driver and passenger showed good protection whereas the chest area showed adequate protection. In the side impact test, the WR-V scored 8 points and its total score stood at 27.41 points.

In terms of safety features, the WR-V comes with dual front and side airbags and front seatbelt pretensioners as standard across all the variants. The curtain airbags, on the other hand, is optional in the lower variants and standard in the higher variants. Furthermore, it offers other safety features like ABS, EBD, seatbelt reminders and auto emergency braking.

2023 Honda WR-V Powertrain Details

The 2023 WR-V finally gets the much-awaited 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine borrowed from the 5th-gen Honda City. The naturally-aspirated motor produces 121PS of power at 6600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4300rpm. However, unlike the India-spec City, the Indonesia-spec WR-V is not offered with a manual transmission. Instead, it is only offered with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Honda WR-V India Plans 

While Honda haven’t revealed any plans to launch the new WR-V in India, they are currently working on a mid-size SUV for the Indian market. It is set to be unveiled in mid 2023. Apart from that, Honda are also working on a sub-compact SUV that could share its underpinnings and powertrains with the Indonesian-spec WR-V.
