Honda are yet to reveal the battery specifications and powertrain details of the upcoming electric SUV. Since they have a large development window of close to 3 years, we expect the Elevate EV to make use of advanced electric vehicle technologies. While there are not many all-electric SUV options in the C-segment, mass market players such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Kia and Mahindra plan to launch a slew of EVs by the year 2026.

Currently, those looking for a C-segment electric SUV only have 4 options to choose from  — the Hyundai Kona EV, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3 and Mahindra XUV400. Meanwhile, Maruti are currently developing an all-electric SUV based on the EVX concept that was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo while Hyundai and Kia are working on introducing heavily-localised EVs in the Indian market. Among homegrown carmakers, Tata are currently developing the Punch EV, Harrier EV, Curvv EV and the Sierra EV while Mahindra are set to bring a new range of electric SUVs under its new ‘Born Electric’ sub-brand.

Apart from the Elevate and its all-electric counterpart, Honda have also announced 3 new SUVs for the Indian market. While details about these upcoming Honda SUVs are scarce at the moment, Honda have confirmed they will go on sale by the year 2030. The Japanese carmaker is likely to reignite its premium image by introducing a couple of flagship products from its global stable, in the form of either completely built units (CBUs) or completely knocked down (CKDs) route.
