Honda City Hybrid Unveiling Tomorrow | V3Cars
Honda Cars India are all set to take the wraps off the India-spec CIty Hybrid sedan tomorrow. It will come with a 1.5L petrol engine and two electric motors. Apart from the efficienct powertrain, the India-spec City Hybrid is also likely to offer autonomous driving assistance systems (ADAS), which Honda like to call ‘Honda Sensing’. Honda are likely to offer the City Hybrid in V and ZX variants.
As we stated earlier, the Honda City Hybrid gets a 1.5L petrol engine mated to twin electric motors. The engine produces 98PS of power and 127Nm of torque. While the first electric motor acts as an integrated starter generator, the other one powers the wheels. The electric motor's power and torque outputs are 109PS and 253Nm, respectively. The Honda City Hybrid doesn’t have a conventional gearbox as the electric motor channels the power to the wheels directly.

The City Hybrid will also offer ADAS. Here’s what Honda Sensing has to offer:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
Back in 2020, rumours suggested that Honda may launch the City RS with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine in the Indian market. However, as things stand now, the City Hybrid is likely to incorporate the sporty RS body kit. The RS kit on the Thai-spec City Hybrid includes a black grille, RS badging, side skirts, a boot lip spoiler and all-black interiors.

At launch, the Honda City Hybrid won’t have any direct rivals. Speaking of hybrids, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets a mild-hybrid setup that helps improve fuel efficiency in stop-go traffic conditions. The City Hybrid, on the other hand, uses its combustion engine as a generator and it’s the electric motor that contributes the most to the power delivery. We expect Honda Cars India to price the Honda City Hybrid in the range of Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh ex-showroom.
