Ferrari SF90 XX Road-Going Hybird Hypercar Unveiled

Ferrari SF90 XX Unveiled – Track Weapon Built For The Road | V3Cars

In general, Ferrari's 'XX' models are intended exclusively for track use. However, the latest iteration – the SF90 XX – is specifically designed for road usage, much to the delight of Ferrari's devoted customer base. The Italian automaker took their already powerful SF90, a hybrid hypercar boasting 986PS of power, and elevated its performance to even greater heights. The new Ferrari SF90 XX is available in both closed Stradale and open-top Spider versions. It now boasts a total of 1,016PS of power and an impressive claimed 0-100kmph acceleration time of 2.3 seconds. The SF90 XX hybrid hypercar from Ferrari is limited to just 799 units in Stradale (coupe) form and 599 units in Spider (convertible) form and all have been accounted for.

Ferrari SF90 XX Powertrain

The SF90 XX maintains a similar powertrain setup as its standard counterpart, the SF90. It still features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and 3 electric motors. However, Ferrari have made certain modifications to the V8 engine, incorporating new pistons, refining the ports, and increasing the compression ratio. These adjustments result in a power boost for the combustion engine, now delivering 786PS of power and 804Nm of torque. Furthermore, Ferrari has enhanced the electric motors, albeit accessible only in the "new Qualify mode," to provide an additional 229PS of power.

Additionally, Ferrari have incorporated the same software calibration for the 8-speed gearbox as seen in the Daytona SP3 to enhance the car's dynamic feel. This not only refines the acceleration through the gears but also adds a more pronounced exhaust burble.

Ferrari SF90XX Aerodynamics

The improvements in aerodynamics are truly remarkable. In fact, the SF90 XX marks the first road-going Ferrari since the F50 to feature a fixed wing. This fixed wing complements the active gurney flap of the SF90, now adjusted to collaborate with the rear wing, ensuring optimal airflow management. The combined effect of these new aero additions results in double the maximum downforce compared to the standard SF90.

Ferrari SF90XX Interior

The interior of the SF90 XX showcases new carbon fibre-backed seats that resemble fixed racing buckets. However, unlike fixed racing seats, the SF90 XX’s seats offer some level of adjustability for improving comfort on the road. The backrest can be adjusted like a regular seat, while an elastic fabric covers the gap between the seat back and bottom, creating a unified appearance. This means you can enjoy the aesthetic appeal of single-piece racing seats without sacrificing comfort.

Surprisingly, despite their adjustability, the SF90 XX seats weigh less than the non-adjustable seats found in the standard SF90. The cabin has also undergone significant stripping, featuring new carbon fibre and Alcantara door panels and dash, along with a hollowed-out carbon fibre center tunnel.

As for the SF90 XX Spider variant, it sports a folding hard-top roof accompanied by carbon fiber roll bars. The dual-flying buttress design not only adds to its aggressive aesthetic but also contributes to its distinctive appearance, setting it apart from the Stradale version.
