February 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - Hatchback YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this February 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all hatchbacks in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all hatchbacks for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

Hatchbacks

Hatchbacks Segment February 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • In terms of sales, the B-segment hatchback was the best-selling segment in the Indian market
  • The Tiago was the best performing hatchback in February 2023 YoY comparison, with a 66% rise in dispatches as compared to February 2022
  • The i20 was the second best performing car in the category, with a 59% YoY growth in February 2023
  • Disregarding the cars that reported zero sales in February 2023, the Celerio and S-Presso from Maruti were the biggest losers, with around 54% decline in sales. The Altroz was the second biggest loser with a 21% decline in dispatches in the February YoY comparison
  • The Swift also reported a YoY decline of 4% in February
  • The cars that reported zero dispatches are:
    • Honda Jazz
    • Hyundai Santro (Discontinued in 2022)
    • Mahindra KUV100
    • Volkswagen Polo (Discontinued in 2022)
    • Datsun Redi-Go (Discontinued in 2022)

Hatchback Segment February 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • The Baleno claimed the top spot, with over 18,000 units sold in the month of February
  • The Celerio was the top MoM gainer in February, with a little over 30% growth in dispatch figures This is after disregarding the 2800%+ MoM growth of the Renault Kwid
  • The Glanza was the second best top gainer in MoM comparison, with a 27% growth
  • Tata Altroz emerged as the top MoM loser in the month of February, with over 30% decline in dispatch numbers
  • Among the notable MoM losers were the Ignis, Tiago and WagonR, with their dispatches declining by around 18% each.
