Citroen C3X Cross Sedan India Launch Likely In 2024 | V3Cars

Citroen India currently offer 3 models in the country and a new C3 Aircross will join the portfolio later this year. A new rumour suggests that the French carmaker will introduce a new cross sedan based on the C3 Aircross in the country in 2024. Read on to know more about the upcoming C3X.

Opening Up A New Segment

Jacked up sedans isn’t a new segment in India as we have seen models like the Maruti Suzuki SX4 and the recently launched Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. However, the upcoming Citroen C3X is likely to take this segment even further with an SUV-inspired design. The C3X is likely to be similar to the Volvo S60 Cross Country featuring a high ground clearance and side body cladding.

Since it is likely to share the signature Citroen face with the C3 Aircross, we expect it to feature an aggressive front end with a large lower grille and accentuated wheel arches. It could also feature a tapering roofline and a notchback-styled tailgate. Citroen already offer the C4X and C5X sedans in the global markets and the C3X could be the smallest in this sub-family.

On the inside, the C3X could borrow its dashboard and layout from the upcoming C3 Aircross. It could feature a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and telematics. Furthermore, it could offer features like a digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with push-button start/stop and electric sunroof.

On the powertrain front, the C3X could share the 1.2L turbo petrol engine with the C3 and C3 Aircross. This turbocharged 3-cylinder engine produces 110PS of power and 190Nm of torque, matching the output of 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine options in sedans like the Slavia and Virtus. Since the C3X will sit on Citroen's heavily-localised C-cubed platform, we could also expect its all-electric iteration to roll out soon after the launch of the ICE-powered C3X.

Citroen will launch the C3 Aircross in the country around August 2023 while its all-electric counterpart could arrive in showrooms in early 2024. The 2 models could then be followed up with the C3X sedan. The C3X is likely to go up against the likes of the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
