Citroen Officially Confirm C3 Electric Launch For Early 2023 | V3Cars

Citroen India are set to launch the C3 Electric in Early 2023. The electric version of the C3 mini SUV was spotted undergoing tests multiple times and the production version is likely to come at a competitive price tag.

Citroen launched the C3 B2-segment crossover SUV in July and within a year since its launch, the French carmaker has confirmed the arrival of an all-electric derivative of the C3. It’s likely to be called the e-C3 and it will share most of its components with the petrol-powered C3

Citroen India are aiming for volumes that would only come from a competitively-priced product. With a high degree of localisation, we expect Citroen to give the e-C3 a starting price well below the Rs. 10 lakh mark. However, top variant, which will be equipped with more features, is likely to cost Rs. 12 lakh ex-showroom. Citroen may also look at the possibility of sourcing the battery pack for the e-C3 from an Indian vendor, which will make it even more affordable.

Citroen are yet to reveal the details about the battery pack and electric motor of the e-C3. However, we expect Citroen to offer a 40kWh battery pack. The e-Cr could offer a claimed driving range of close to 350km - 400km on a single charge. In terms of design, the e-C3 will look identical to the C3 petrol, albeit with a charging port on the driver-side front fender.

While it’s pretty early to judge, we expect the C3 electric to undercut the Tata Nexon EV Prime and lead the segment until Tata come up with the Punch EV. Hence, the C3 electric will rival the Tata Tigor EV and Tata Tiago EV for now. Citroen India will locally produce the e-C3 and could also export the electric hatchback to European markets.
