In this article analysing car sales for June 2023, we will examine the year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) changes for the 20 best-selling cars of the month. Using this data, we will also provide our observations and insights on the reasons for significant improvements or declines in sales, where relevant.

June 2023 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change

Maruri’s Brezza reported the best growth, with a gain of over 140% in terms of YoY comparison.
The next best YoY performer in June 2023 was the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic pair, with a growth of over 109%.
The WagonR was the best-selling car in India in June 2023, with almost 17,500 units sold. However, it is a decline of 8.91% from June 2022, when over 19,000 units of WagonR were dispatched.
The top 10 best selling cars in June 2023 sold well over 10,000 units each.
Maruti Dzire was the top loser in the YoY comparison analysis with over 26% decline in numbers.
Ertiga lost sales by 19.20% in the YoY comparison analysis for the month of June. The Ertiga was followed by Alto pair with a 17.89% decline in the YoY comparison analysis for the month of June.
Half of the models on the top 20 best-selling list in June 2023 are from Maruti and the homegrown carmaker claimed the top 2 spots.
Hyundai Creta, Maruti Baleno and Tata Nexon finished 3rd, 4th and 5th in the best-sellers ranking for the month of June.

June 2023 - 20 Top-Selling Cars MoM Change

The Carens was the top-performer in terms of MoM comparison analysis for the month of June, with over 26.39% increase in dispatches compared to May 2023.
The Alto pair was the second best performer in the MoM comparison for the month of June, with a near 21% growth in sales.
More than half of the top-20 selling cars in the list saw a MoM decline in dispatch numbers, which includes names like Eeco, which was the top losing car in the MoM comparison with a decline of 27%.
The Eeco was followed by the Baleno, which saw a decline of 24.85% in the MoM comparison for June.
Maruti launched the B2-segment SUV Fronx in April and 9,863 units were sold in May. But in the month of June its dispatches dropped by 19%.
