In this December 2023 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change for the 20 top-selling cars of December 2023. Using this data, we will also provide our observations and insights on the reasons for significant improvements or declines in sales, where relevant.

December 2023 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change

Top Gainers:
- Mahindra Thar (B2): Experienced substantial YoY growth of 71.70%, making it the top-gaining car in the YoY comparison, percentage-wise. It should also be noted that Mahindra Thar was the least selling car on the top selling 20 cars’ list.
- Mahindra Scorpio N + Classic (D1): Recorded a substantial YoY increase of 62.14%, indicating growing demand for Scorpio N + Classic. Mahindra sold twice the amount of Scorpio pair compared to that of the Thar in the month of December.
- Kia Seltos (C1): Exhibited a notable YoY increase of 66.09%, suggesting sustained popularity and demand for the Seltos.
- Tata Punch (B1): Showed a strong YoY growth of 30.24%, indicating increased market acceptance and demand for the Punch model.
Top Losers:
- Maruti Nexa Baleno (B2): Witnessed a significant YoY decrease of -36.99%, indicating a huge decline in demand for the Baleno model compared to the same month in 2022..
- Maruti Suzuki WagonR (B1): Showed a YoY decrease of -15.75%, indicating a decline in demand for the WagonR model.
- Hyundai Creta (C1): Recorded a YoY decrease of -9.43%, suggesting a decline in popularity compared to the previous year.
- Maruti Suzuki Eeco (A): Witnessed a YoY decrease of -5.17%, indicating a decline in demand for the Eeco model.
- Maruti Suzuki Swift (B1): Experienced a YoY decrease of -1.81%, suggesting a slight decline in popularity compared to the previous year.

Top Gainers:
- Toyota Innova Crysta/HyCross (D1): Showed a significant MoM increase of 13.34%, indicating a notable rise in demand for this model.
- Tata Nexon (B2): Experienced a MoM growth of 2.47%, suggesting sustained popularity and demand for the Nexon.
- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (C1): Recorded a modest MoM increase of 0.92%, indicating a relatively stable performance in the market.
- Hyundai Venue (B2): Showed a slight MoM increase of 0.92%, suggesting stable demand for the Venue model.
- Maruti Suzuki WagonR (B1): Experienced a MoM growth of 0.92%, indicating a modest increase in demand for the WagonR model.
Top Losers:
- Maruti Suzuki Swift (B1): Witnessed a significant MoM decrease of -22.65%, indicating a substantial decline in popularity compared to the previous month.
