BYD Debut Han EV In Dominican Republic | V3Cars

The Han EV uses BYD’s Blade Battery tech, which offers efficient cooling and packaging for the car’s power source. With traction on all four wheels, the Han can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds and offers a driving range of 550km per full charge.

To increase the demand for EVs in the car market, the Dominican government has reduced custom duties and VAT by 50% for the electric vehicles. This will help the carmaker offer a competitive price tag for the Han and improve its reach among car buyers. The Han EV competes with entry level electric cars from luxury car makers and the Tesla Model 3 is BYD’s prime rival.

For those of you who don’t know, BYD (Build Your Dreams) is a Chinese carmaker with many EVs and hybrids along with some IC cars in its portfolio. Unlike many vaporware EV manufacturers, BYD has some solid credentials backing their ambitions. One of them is their support from legendary investor Warren Buffet’s stake in the company through their company Berkshire Hathaway. Buffet is extremely cautious with the investments he or his company makes and his stamp of approval is worth more than the money Berkshire invested in BYD.

BYD also has a presence in India as they sell the 5-seater electric MPV called the E6. The BYD E6 is exclusively available to businesses interested in a long-range electric vehicle with spacious interiors. The E6 has a 71.7kWh battery pack, which is more than twice of what the Nexon EV offers. It has a range of 520km per charge and retails for 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
