BMW M340i xDrive Launched In India; Priced At Rs 62.90 Lakh | V3Cars

BMW has launched the most powerful iteration of the 3 Series sedan, the M340i xDrive, in India. Priced at Rs 62.90 lakh, it attracts a premium of Rs 13 lakh over the top-spec 330i M Sport variant.

For that premium, the M340i xDrive gets a bigger 3.0-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine instead of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine. It makes 387PS and 500Nm, 129PS and 100Nm more than the standard 3 Series petrol. Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While on the standard 3 Series power is sent to the rear wheels, on the M340i, power is sent to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive 4WD system. Other mechanical additions on the M340i include M Sport differentials and M Sport brakes.

BMW claims that the M340i xDrive can go from 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds, 1.4 seconds and 2.4 seconds less than the 330i and the 320d, respectively.

In terms of design, BMW has done enough to set the M340i apart from the standard sedan. It gets a new tri-arrow pattern kidney grille instead of the vertically slatted grille seen on the standard model. It also gets updated front and rear bumpers which looks more aggressive and sportier compared to the standard car. The M340i also gets an M rear spoiler which the standard sedan does not. The M340i is offered in three exterior colour option: Dravit Grey, Tanzanite Blue and Sunset Orange.

Inside the cabin, while the layout remains unchanged, the M340i gets M seat belts. It also gets an M340i-specific display for the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to set itself apart from the standard 3 Series. Other features that are exclusive to the M340i include hill launch assist and hill descent control.

Standard features on the M340i include adaptive LED headlamps, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, 3-zone climate control, wireless mobile charging, powered front seats, heads-up display, Harman Kardon sound system, parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, multiple airbags and cruise control with braking function.

BMW M340i xDrive takes on likes of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC and the upcoming Audi S5 Sportsback.
