Bigger Citroen C3 Spied - Could Rival Carens, Ertiga W/ 3-Row Seating | V3Cars

Spy images of the larger version of the current Citroen C3, (possibly the C3 Aircross) recently surfaced online. The images show a slot of a touchscreen and manual AC controls. So, we should expect it to retain its barebones, essential personality while counting on an engaging driving experience.

Considering the size of the vehicle, we expected to see the car with the turbo petrol engine and 6-speed transmission. However, the shifter lever doesn’t have the collar for slotting in reverse and it also doesn’t have the R mark to the left of first gear. So, it could very well come with the 1.2L normal petrol engine.

According to the reports, this larger C3 could compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other C-segment SUVs. Considering the fancier and larger 16-inch wheels, it seems that the car may compete with the C-segment SUVs but on the budget end. Just like a sub segment emerged out of the B2-SUVs where the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the upcoming Maruti Nexa Fronx compete.

V3Cars Insights

Considering its size, we expect it to offer a 3-row seating option. The shifter lever suggests that it may also offer the 1.2L normal petrol engine — at least with the 5-seat version. With a basic feature set, the C3 Aircross could offer an affordable starting price for a C-segment car. Thus, it may end up competing with the 3-row cars like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nexa XL6 and Kia Carens. The competition with the C-segment SUVs seems less natural after we spotted the 5-speed transmission in the spy pics.
