Standard Range Kia EV6 Set To Launch In India

Kia EV6 With 58kWh Battery To Launch In India | V3Cars

Kia allotted 100 units of EV6 for India. But the electric crossover received 356 bookings from across the country even before it was launched. This shows the kind of response the EV6 got in India. Considering the response, Kia are now set to bring the standard range version of the EV6 to India.

Kia launched the GT Line version of the EV6 in India. It gets the option of a dual-motor and a single motor setup with the biggest battery pack available in the EV6 lineup. The standard version of the EV6 gets a 58kWh battery pack, as opposed to the bigger, 77.4kWh battery pack of the GT Line. The standard version is not only low on power and range, but also weight. Here’s a comparison between the 2 variants of the EV6:

The EV6 standard version also looks different from the GT Line. It gets a different front bumper, black body cladding and smaller, 19-inch wheels. The standard version loses out on the following features from the EV6 GT Line:

  • Head-Up Display
  • Automatic Pop-Out Door Handles
  • Electric Sunroof
  • Powered Tailgate
  • 14-speaker Meridian sound system
  • Ventilated Front Seats

The standard EV6 is likely to cost around Rs. 10 lakh less than the GT Line thanks to the smaller battery and feature list. Hence, we can expect the standard EV6 to cost around Rs. 50 lakh. Do note that the standard version too, is likely to arrive via the CBU route, as the GT Line.

Speaking on why Kia first chose to bring the top-spec EV6 model to India, Myung-Sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, "Kia wanted to introduce its best EV first in India. We do have the other battery option for the EV6, but in India, we wanted to showcase the best battery capacity (77.4 kWh). In the future, yes, we have a plan to introduce the EV with the smaller capacity battery"
