5 Upcoming Maruti Suzuki CNG Cars In India | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki hold the largest share in the four-wheeler CNG segment in India. With the recent launch of the Dzire CNG, they now have 9 CNG offerings in the market. The introduction of the Dzire 1.2L CNG opens up the possibility of seeing more 1.2L petrol cars in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio with a factory-fit CNG kit. Let’s count down the cars we expect to see with a CNG kit in the foreseeable future.
Let’s look at the expected specs of the upcoming CNG models from Maruti Suzuki India
1. Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG
Maruti Suzuki Swift will also get the CNG option in the coming months. Just like the Dzire CNG, it will also get the 1.2L normal petrol engine with 78PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque in the CNG mode. We expect Maruti Suzuki to offer the Swift in VXi and ZXi variants, with a premium of Rs. 95,000 over the corresponding petrol variants, like in case of the Dzire CNG. The Swift CNG will take on the likes of the Tata Tiago CNG and Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios CNG.
2. Maruti Nexa Baleno CNG
The 2022 Baleno could be the first Nexa offering with a CNG bi-fuel option. Unlike the competition, the Baleno doesn’t get a diesel engine option. Hence, the addition of a CNG option will serve the buyers who look out for fuel cost savings. The Baleno CNG will share its powertrain with the Dzire CNG, with power and torque output of 78PS and 98.5Nm respectively, in the CNG mode. Maruti Suzuki could offer the Baleno CNG in mid and top end trims - expectedly Delta and Zeta. The Baleno CNG wouldn’t have any direct rival in the market, until the launch of the Tata Altroz CNG. However, if it goes on sale, then the buyers will certainly find themselves cross-shopping between the Baleno CNG, Dzire CNG and Swift CNG.
3. Maruti Arena WagonR 1.2L CNG
Maruti Suzuki recently updated the Wagon-R with a facelift. Aside from the visual changes, the 2022 WagonR received the 1.0L and 1.2L dual-jet petrol engines. These engines use twin injectors per cylinder for better combustion and fuel efficiency. While the 1.0L petrol engine is already available with the WagonR CNG and Celerio CNG, the 1.2L petrol engine could also get the CNG option. It could produce 78PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque like we get with the Dzire CNG. The Wagon-R CNG will take on the likes of the Hyundai Santro CNG.

4. Maruti Nexa Ignis CNG
Maruti Nexa Ignis is another Nexa car, which could get the CNG option. To date, the Maruti Nexa range only gets the premium offerings that do not include CNG. However, with the rising fuel prices, the CNG option will suit well for buyers who are looking for ways to lower their fuel expenses. Like the Dzire CNG, it will also get the same 1.2L normal CNG engine with 78PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque in the CNG mode. Maruti Nexa could charge Rs. 95,000 for the CNG option over the corresponding petrol variants. The Ignis CNG will compete with the Tata Tiago CNG and WagonR 1.2L CNG.

5. Maruti Arena Brezza CNG
Maruti Suzuki are getting the 2022 Brezza ready for launch this year with a some mechanical and feature updates. The generation change of the Brezza could also include a CNG option for the commuter set of buyers. 2022 Brezza CNG could share its powertrain with the Ertiga CNG. It could produce 93PS of power and 122Nm of torque. We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the 2022 Brezza petrol first and then the CNG options, after a gap of a month or two. The 2022 Brezza CNG will rival the upcoming Tata Nexon CNG.
