While the Sonet facelift test car was completely wrapped in camouflage, it is worth pointing out a few details. The image reveals a new design for the LED DRLs, which also hint at a longer headlight design. The new headlights could flank a larger interpretation of the Tigor Nose radiator grille. Furthermore, the front and rear bumpers could also see a revision too.

Around the side, the image reveals a new design for the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Apart from that, we do not expect the Sonet facelift to offer any other changes around its side profile. The big change, however, is likely to take place at the rear, which is likely to feature a new connected LED tail light design. The image reveals vertical LED tail lights that look similar to that of the Seltos facelift.

2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Interior And Features

We are yet to catch a glimpse of the Sonet facelift’s interior. Since it is a mid-life facelift, we do not expect Kia to offer any major changes on the inside. However, we can expect a new full-colour LCD instrument cluster to replace the current semi-digital unit. Apart from that, Kia could revise the centre console of the Sonet in a bid to make it look more clutter-free. Currently, the Sonet comes packed with features such as front ventilated seats, drive and traction modes, sunroof, Bose sound system, and ambient lighting. The facelift is likely to carry the same set of features, including new additions like a semi-powered driver’s seat.

On the powertrain front, the Sonet facelift is likely to carry the same set of engine and transmission options as the current model. Currently, the base variants of the Sonet offer a 1.2L normal petrol engine that produces 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4200rpm. The higher variants of the Sonet offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, which puts out 120PS of power at 6000rpm and 172Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4000rpm, and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine that produces 115PS of power at 4000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 2750rpm. While the base petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission only, both the turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines offer auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and automatic transmission options.

2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Launch Timeline

Given that Kia recently updated the Seltos facelift, it is clear that Kia have chosen the Seltos as their festive offering. Hence, we expect the Sonet facelift to hit showrooms in early 2024 and go up against a host of recently updated B2-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The Sonet also competes with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Meanwhile, Tata are also readying the new-gen Nexon, which will make its debut soon.
