Volvo To Launch XC40 Facelift on September 21 | V3Cars

Speaking of design changes, the XC40 facelift gets a redesigned front fascia. The headlights now get a triangular curve on the inside and the lower bumper gets a redesign with bigger air ducts. On the side, the 2022 XC40 facelift seems like it doesn’t get a dual-tone roof, which is available as standard on the India-spec XC40. At the rear, the facelift continues with the L-shaped LED taillights and a similar bumper design.

On the inside, there are only 2 major changes. Volvo have added a new Android-based touchscreen infotainment unit. It’s also available in the new S90 sedan and XC60 SUV. The second notable change is  the new full-colour LCD display with new themes. The rest of the cabin layout remains the same as before. However, we can expect a couple of new trim pieces and upholstery options.

Volvo India are likely to continue with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine we get with the ongoing XC40, along with a mild-hybird system. In the current tune, this engine produces 190PS of power and 300Nm of torque. It comes with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that powers the front wheels only. Earlier, Volvo used to offer a 2.0L turbo diesel engine with 4-wheel-drive, but that was discontinued after BS6 emissions norms came into effect. We do not expect Volvo to reintroduce the diesel engine in India.

The new Volvo XC40 facelift will rival other premium compact SUVs like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3 facelift. It is worth noting that BMW have already revealed the new-gen X1 globally and it is likely to come to our shores soon.
