2022 Mahindra Scorpio - First Teaser Drops Ft. Amitabh Bacchan | V3Cars
Mahindra have dropped the first teaser for the 2022 Scorpio. It has been internally codenamed the Z101. The carmaker has not named the SUV in the teaser and calls it the Big Daddy Of SUVs. The teaser also says that the Z101 will take on D-segment SUVs, making it evident that it is indeed the new-gen Scorpio.
Mr Amitabh Bacchan, the renowned Bollywood actor has done the voiceover for the teaser. Mahindra have confirmed that he will do other promotional activities for the new-gen Scorpio as well.

The new-gen Scorpio will replace the 20-year-old 1st-gen Scorpio. It will come in 6 and 7-seater versions. It will get a completely new exterior design with bigger overall dimensions. It will carry forward the muscular stance of the current Scorpio. The rear door will continue to open sideways like the current Scorpio.

It will also get new features like an electric sunroof, a new touchscreen infotainment system with the AdrenoX UI and connected car technology, dual-zone auto AC, drive modes and a full-colour TFT instrument cluster.

The new Scorpio will wear the new Mahindra logo. It will be the second car to wear the new Mahindra logo after the XUV700. It will likely be underpinned by the body-on-frame platform of the Mahindra Thar. The new-gen Scorpio could also get a 4-wheel-drive system in the top-spec variants.
On the powertrain front, the 2022 Scorpio will get a 2.2L turbo diesel and a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Both engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The engine will likely come in the same state of tune as the XUV700.

The teaser of the new-gen Scorpio said ‘coming soon’. As the first teaser has now dropped, we can expect the new-gen Scorpio to launch in June 2022. Next month, the Scorpio will complete its 20th year in the Indian car market and Mahindra is expected to celebrate the occasion with the unveiling of the new-gen Scorpio.
