2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto Spotted - All We Know So Far

2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto Spotted - All We Know So Far | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki Alto is the best-selling car in the Indian market. While it still manages to find homes, the current-gen Alto is starting to show its age. Maruti Suzuki are also preparing the new Alto and the pics of a camouflaged model doing test runs in Gurgaon recently surfaced online. We expect the new Alto to feature the brand’s Heartect platform.

Casually eyeballing the test car spy shots and video tells us that the 2022 Alto might offer larger dimensions. That means the new Alto will have a longer, wider, and taller body than the current-gen model and might also get a longer wheelbase. As we have seen in the past, the Heartect platform helps in shedding weight too. That could mean that the new Alto, despite the size gains, won’t outweigh the current model. We expect Maruti Suzuki to draw design inspiration from the new Celerio.

The increased dimensions will also mean more space on the inside, We expect better headroom and legroom with better seat cushioning. On the features’ front, Maruti Suzuki may offer new-age features like steering mounted controls, rear power windows, and more. While we expect Maruti Suzuki to retain the 0.8L petrol engine. However, Maruti may also offer the 1.0L petrol engine as an option. If it gets the larger engine, then we can expect it to offer the same ridiculous 26kmpl+ mileage figure as the new Celerio. Maruti Suzuki may also offer CNG versions a few months after the new Alto goes on sale.

Maruti Suzuki are testing the next-gen Alto and we expect the launch sometime in the last 3 months of 2022. We believe that Maruti Suzuki will have a busy 2022 as the Baleno, Brezza, S-Cross, Ertiga and XL6 are also ready for their routine updates.
