Mahindra Scorpio Classic More Fuel Efficient Than Predecessor — Here Are All The Changes | V3Cars

Mahindra have revealed all the details about the upcoming Scorpio Classic. While there are subtle changes made to the exteriors, a lot has changed underneath in a bid to offer a more wholesome experience. We share all the mechanical changes that Mahindra have made to the Scorpio Classic.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic

Before diving into the details, let us clear the apparent changes first. The new Scorpio Classic gets a new 6-slat grille with the Mahindra’s new twin peaks logo, bumper-mounted LED DRLs, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, and LED tail lights with vertically stacked reflectors. On the inside, it gets a bigger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, black and beige dashboard and a new steering wheel. With that being said, let’s dive deep into the details.

Scorpio Classic

To start with, the new Scorpio Classic comes with an all-aluminium engine block that is 55kg lighter than before. Add that weight shedding along with some other advancements and the Scorpio Classic now delivers 14% better fuel efficiency than before. Mahindra also revealed that the new Scorpio Classic now delivers 230Nm of its torque, i.e 77% of its peak torque output, right from 1000rpm.

In addition to that, Mahindra have also added a cable-operated transmission. It improves the shift quality and smoothness along with narrowing down the lever travel between each cog. The new Scorpio Classic now gets the same powertrain seen in the new Scorpio N Z2. The 2.2L turbo diesel produces 130PS of power at 3750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 2800rpm.

To improve the overall ride comfort and handling, Mahindra have also retuned the suspension of the new Scorpio Classic. In addition to that, it gets revised anti roll bars too, all of which should result in better road manners than the outgoing model.
