2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Spied Undisguised Ahead Of India Launch | V3Cars

Jeep launched the new-gen Grand Cherokee in September 2021. It comes with a new design inside-out along with 2 wheelbase options — 2 row and 3 row. The model spied in India seems to be the 2 row model with the shorter wheelbase. Jeep are yet to reveal the dimensions and specifications of the India-spec Grand Cherokee.

Earlier, Jeep revealed that they will locally assemble the Grand Cherokee in India. Jeep India already assemble the Wrangler at their manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon. It is the only facility that produces the Wrangler outside of the USA. The India-spec Jeep Wrangler comes with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and the same engine will also power the upcoming India-spec Grand Cherokee.

In the Wrangler, this 2.0L turbo petrol engine produces 268PS of power and 400Nm of torque at 3000rpm. It comes with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive. We expect the Grand Cherokee to also make use of a similar powertrain, albeit with a more road-suited 4-wheel-drive system. Globally, Jeep also offer petrol V6, V8 and plug-in-hybrid powertrains as well.

Jeep India are likely to commence bookings for the Grand Cherokee soon, with the launch likely to take place in late 2022. Owing to the local assembly, we expect the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee to rival the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60 and the Audi Q5.
